Lebanon Birding Club Picnic Photos – 19 May 2018

The John W Sellars Chapter TOS wrapped up another great season of birding with its annual Picnic in the Park on Saturday, 19 May 2018. Members gathered early that morning for some birding around the county and were rewarded for their efforts. Among others our members found Least Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Great Egret, Dickcissel, Loggerhead Shrike, and Grasshopper Sparrow.

Another nice surprise earlier that morning occurred when Robin and Justin Nation found three Stilt Sandpipers feeding on a nearby mudflat. Stephen Zipperer was lucky enough to arrive in time to see the three uncommon shorebirds, but the birds were gone by the time the rest of our members showed up. Still it was a fun morning of birding ending with lots of good food and great conversation.

This event wraps up our 2017-2018 season, but look for notice of at least a couple birding events over the summer. A nightjar & owl outing is possible in June, and a visit to some wildlife refuge in July, so keep an eye on your inbox and our website for announcements.  We will resume our regularly scheduled meetings, programs and field trips in August. Thanks all for another great year of birding in Wilson and surrounding counties.

Here are a few photos from the picnic.

And finally, the World’s Most Interesting Man showed up (He wasn’t drinking Dos Equis)
