Nightjar & Owl Hunt / Butterfly Garden Tour – Saturday, 23 June 2018

Who wants to see a goatsucker? We all do! And we’re going to!! On Saturday, 23 June 2018, the John W. Sellars (Lebanon) Chapter of TOS has an evening of nightjar and owl hunting planned for southern Wilson County and northern Rutherford County.

Anyone and everyone is invited. On Saturday evening, 23 June 2018, be in the Cedars of Lebanon State Park Nature Center parking lot at 6:45 PM to participate. We will pile into as few vehicles as possible, then hit the back roads just a few miles south of the park with Stephen Zipperer leading the way.

Expect to hear Great Horned Owl, Barred Owl, Eastern Screech Owl, Chuck-will’s Widow, Eastern Whippoorwill, and Common Nighthawk. If we’re lucky, we might catch sight of one or two of these birds.

You probably will not need binoculars (unless you have night vision binoculars, in which case you are free to ride with me) but bring water and a snack if you wish. We will be out until 10:30 PM or so.

It’s going to be fun! We hope to see you on Saturday, 23 June 2018.
