Field Trip to Paris Landing & Kentucky Lake – Saturday, 18 February 2017

The John W Sellars Chapter of TOS would normally meet on Saturday, 18 February 2017, the 3rd Saturday of the month, but the TOS winter gathering is that weekend, 17-19 February at Paris Landing State Park. Consequently, our normal meeting at Cedars of Lebanon will not occur. Members of the Lebanon Birding Club are encouraged to attend the TOS gathering, and make a weekend of it.

However, if you cannot commit to a whole weekend of birding, Stephen Zipperer will be leading a field trip around Paris Landing and Kentucky Lake beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, 18 February 2017 and all of our members are invited. Meet in front of the Paris Landing State Park Lodge by 8:00 a.m.

What will we see?

From December 14 through January 5 each year, tens of thousands of volunteers throughout the Americas take part in an adventure that has become a family tradition among generations. Families and students, birders and scientists, armed with binoculars, bird guides and checklists go out on an annual mission – often before dawn. For over one hundred and thirteen years, the desire to both make a difference and to experience the beauty of nature has driven dedicated people to go out and count birds on the annual Christmas Bird Count.
