PICNIC POSTPONED

The annual Lebanon Birding Club spring picnic scheduled for Saturday, 18 May 2019 is postponed. No makeup date has been scheduled.

We will likely have the picnic in the fall rather than trying to squeeze it in this summer. An email will be sent to all members in a notice will be posted on this website when a makeup date is chosen.

Our next gathering will be Saturday, 22 June 2019, when we will host members of the Nashville Chapter for our annual nightjar & owl hunt. First we will meet at the Cedars of Lebanon State Park Nature Center at 6:30 PM when Linda Robertson will lead us on a guided tour of the the Butterfly & Native Plant Garden. Following the garden tour, we will pile into as few vehicles as possible and carpool to the natural area in the state forest. To participate in the birding only, plan to arrive at the Nature Center no later than 7:15 PM. We will depart at 7:30 to go birding.

Thank you for understanding and I apologize for being so late with this notice. I hope to see you all on June 22.

Birding Program & Meeting – Saturday, 20 April 2019

The Lebanon Birding Club, a.k.a. John W Sellars Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society, meets again at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, 20 April 2019 at the Sadie Ford Heritage Farm located across the highway and 500 feet south of the entrance to Cedars of Lebanon State Park.

David Hanni,  TWRA Conservation Bird Coordinator, will be our guest and will talk to us about the North American Breeding Bird Survey and other issues with regard to bird conservation.

As always, anyone and everyone interested in birding is invited and welcome to attend our meetings. There is never any pressure to join our organization, but we hope you find something you like and will return.

The Sadie Ford Historical Farm is located at

5186 Hwy 231
Lebanon, TN 37090

Park in the gravel area between the farm house and the barn, and enter the farmhouse from the back porch accessible via the wood ramp at the rear of the house.

NOTE: There is no refrigerator nor any way to heat food at the Sadie Ford farmhouse. Please bring a sack lunch to enjoy with the group after the meeting.
