The John W. Sellars – Lebanon Chapter of TOS is having a cookout on Saturday, 21 May 2016 at shelter #5 in Cedars of Lebanon State Park. We are also planning to shuttle, or carpool, folks to see some of Wilson County’s less often seen birds, like the scissor tailed flycatcher, grasshopper sparrow, and lark sparrow. And you’re invited. Be at shelter #5 at 7:30 AM to join in on the early morning birding action.
For the cookout, please bring whatever meat you wish to eat, and a side dish. We’ll have grills going so unless you’re bringing a pot roast, bring it raw. And if you plan on coming, please send an email to lebanonbirding@gmail.com and let us know what side dish you’re bringing. We’re hoping to avoid a dozen different kinds of potato salad and one cherry pie, so the list will be posted here on the website as it develops.
The plan is to fire up the grills at about 11:00 AM or so, and we’ll eat about 11:30.
Shelter #5 is located directly across the road from the Cedar Lodge on WPA Road. It is on the left just before you reach the parking lot for the Nature Center.
Side dishes will be:
- Asian broccoli salad (it’s way better than it sounds)
- Pinto bean salad (known in Arizona as Texas caviar)
- Potato salad
- Sausage balls
- Deviled eggs
- Cornbread salad
- Chips & coleslaw
- Baked beans
Desserts will be:
- Chocolate Cherry Cake
- Strawberries & angel food cake
- Peach cobbler
- Fruit salad
Don’t forget to email us with what you plan to bring: lebanonbirding@gmail.com
