- 3 January 2026 – Saturday Audubon Bird Count – Lebanon, Wilson County district. This is our annual Christmas Bird Count time!! We go out in teams in sectors of Wilson County and count every bird we see and hear. Meet at the Nature Center at 7:00 AM. Arrive back at 3:00 PM to do compilation of data. Please contact Melissa Turrentine (931)-581-6203 and at avocet1990@gmail.com or romejo1990@gmail.com if interested so that we can get an estimate of people coming to count!!

Over 30 species found: Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, migrating (650) Northern Rough-winged Swallows, Louisiana Waterthrush, Barred Owl, Red-shouldered Hawks.
- 9 August 2025, Saturday – 8:00 -9:30 AM – Early Morning Bird Hike at Shelby Bottoms in Nashville. (Davidson County TN). 1900 Davidson Street, Nashville TN. TANS group. Everyone invited.
- 15 August 2025, Friday – 6:00-7:30 PM – Murfree Springs Discovery Center at the wetlands. Melissa Turrentine to lead. Bug spray may be needed. This is an evening outing. Assemble near the water/ playground area near the main lot. (Murfreesboro).
- 16 August 2025, Saturday – 8:00 -9:30 AM – Old Fort Park – Fortress Rosecrans Park Murfreesboro. 1012 Golf Lane. Bring water and insect repellent. This walk is primarily shaded. A Boro Birders event. Carole Swann, leading. Yellow Warbler and American Kestrel were great to see!

- 3 September 2025 Wednesday – 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM (although it may not take until 10:30 to complete). – Stewart Creek Boat Ramp. Weakley Road on the left before Fate Sanders Marina (driving north). No facilities. Jeff Steele leading walk.
Robin and Jeff had Blackburnian Warbler, Canada Warbler, Prothonotary Warbler and others!! - 6 September 2025 Saturday- 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM – Wilderness Station (Barfield Crescent Park) 401 Volunteer Road Murfreesboro TN. Lauren Pearson will lead a night hike and bring out some live owls and lecture about owls. $3.00 per person and sign a waiver to participate in the event. They will also search for owls along the paved trail next to the Wilderness Station. A Boro Birders Event. It was a great night seeing the Owl Ambassadors: Huckleberry, the Eastern Screech Owl and Stevie the Barred Owl. Then we saw Common Night Hawks and some people saw but we all heard Eastern Screech Owls, Barred Owl, and Great Horned Owls.

- 26 September 2025 Friday – Couchville Lake Loop – 8:00 AM – NOTE: this was postponed from the 17th of September, postponed the 24th of September due to weather and is now the 26th of September. Facilities available. Long Hunter State Park 2910 Hobson Pike Hermitage TN. Jeff Steele leader. A great morning of birding – Black-throated Green Warbler was a treat!
- 29 September 2025 – Monday – 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM – Central Valley Trailhead Stones River Greenway. No facilities. Leader Melissa Turrentine. The trailhead is roughly one mile north of Highway 231 on an unnumbered stretch of Central Valley Road near Walter Hill. It was a beautiful morning. A very good walk with birding friends. 38 species, YB Cuckoo, 5 species of woodpeckers, 7 species of warblers.

Note the Wilderness Station Parking Lot will be closed to vehicles from 7 am – 4 pm that day. Hike, activities, and information geared towards ages 10 and up. Susan Lanier will be there with a booth. Jane E Powell will have a booth and present information on native plants, etc. Native plant garden tours 1 morning and 1 afternoon, Native Plant sale 9 am – 1 pm, Nature Walks 1 morning, 1 afternoon. ADA golf cart Trail Rides 1 morning, 1 afternoon. Activities and Exhibits – 9 AM – 3 PM. Food trucks will be there from 10 AM – 2 PM.

- 15 October 2025 Wednesday – 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM – Vesta Cedar Glade Natural Area. Jeff Steele leading. Vesta is located on Moccasin Road in Wilson County. From I-840 exit on to Couchville Pike and go east approximately two miles on Couchville Pike which turns into Vesta Road then turn left on Moccasin Road and go approximately one mile to the parking area on the left. From I-40 exit at Hwy 231 and proceed south for approximately nine miles and turn right on Vesta Rd. and go approximately two miles and turn right on Moccasin Road. 30 + species – Highlights were: Brown Creeper, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Tennessee Warbler, Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Golden-crowned Kinglets, Yellow-rumped Warblers, and White-throated Sparrows.

From I-40 exit on Highway 171 and go south on South Mount Juliet Rd. for about six miles then bear left onto South Mt Juliet Rd. The parking area is one half mile on the right. From I-24, exit at Old Hickory (southeast Nashville near old Hickory Hollow Mall) and proceed east for approximately 12 miles. Turn right at South Mt Juliet Rd about one and one half miles past the Long Hunter State Park entrance. The parking area is one half mile on the right.

Wear appropriate shoes/boots, we maybe walking through fields to see sparrow species. Large gravel lot near the entrance is parking area. Avery Fish will lead. This is a Boro Birders Event. Over 50 species. Vesper Sparrows, White-crowned Sparrows, a late Baltimore Oriole juvenile. A great birding day.

A fun day. 2 Red-headed Woodpeckers, a female Purple Finch, Red-tailed Hawk, Song Sparrows, White-throated Sparrows, Chipping Sparrows, a Swamp Sparrow, a Dark-eyed Junco, 30 Cedar Waxwings.
- 7 November 2025 Friday – 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM – McFadden Farm Stones River National Battlefield. 2240 North Thompson Lane Murfreesboro, TN 37129. Portable restrooms available at the parking lot. Parking at Thompson Lane Greenway lot. NOTE this change from the original location at Stones River NBF. Bird walk leader is Skylar Carson-Reynolds. This is a Boro Birders event. A relaxing walk, over 100 American Robins, 12 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 25 Cedar Waxwings, Song Sparrows, Swamp Sparrow, White-throated Sparrows, Chipping Sparrows, Field Sparrows. 24 species. Exciting to have new birders do the walk and survey.

Common Loons, Bonaparte’s Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls, 50 Yellow-rumped Warblers.
