Field Trip to Sumner County Hotspots – Saturday, 21 October 2017

In lieu of an October meeting, the John W Sellers Chapter of TOS will head back to Sumner County on Saturday, 21 October 2017 for some fall birding around Old Hickory Lake. This will be a tour of some of the hotspots around Sumner County, followed by lunch somewhere near the lake.

Stephen Zipperer is mapping out a route that will likely include some of the following: Rockland Recreation Area near the dam, Drakes Creek, Sanders Ferry Park, Cages Bend, Station Camp Creek, and Lock 4. We might also hit a few hotspots in northern Wilson County on our way back home. We will start at 8:00 AM, break for lunch in Gallatin, and wrap up around 2:00 PM.

Meet at the Laguardo Recreation Area at 7:45 AM and we will pull out at 8:00 AM. As always, bring binoculars, a scope if you have one, something to drink and snacks if you wish. If possible, we will carpool from there. It’s going to be fun!
