The Lebanon Birding Club is headed to Woods Reservoir in Franklin County on Saturday, 16 December 2017 in search of waterfowl and other feathered friends.
.

We will meet in the parking lot of the Nature Center at Cedars of Lebanon State Park at 7:00 AM, then carpool or caravan to the Burger King in Manchester (I-24 exit 114 – located at 56 Expressway Drive, Manchester, TN 37355). Or meet the group at Burger King by 8:00 AM.

We will proceed from there to Woods Reservoir to look for ducks, loons and whatever else we find. We can also check out a few spots in Coffee County if the group wishes. Hillsboro Pond, the Sod Farm at Bark Camp Barrens, and a few other nearby places are all possible. There are plenty of places to grab lunch in Manchester, TN

Birding Bedford Lake & Normandy – Saturday, 18 November 2017

bedford_lakeThe next meeting of the Lebanon Birding Club (John W. Sellars Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society) will be Saturday, 18 November 2017. Melissa & Roy Turrentine have graciously invited us to have lunch with them near Normandy. Afterward, we will head to nearby Bedford Lake for some birding.

birdwatchingWe generally scope the lake for wintering waterfowl and perhaps catch a few small birds flitting & gleaning in the trees nearby. In years passed we have seen Bufflehead, Gadwall, Goldeneye, Red-breasted & Hooded Merganser, Lesser Scaup, and Ring-neck ducks among others, and dozens of songbird species. If time permits, we will visit Normandy Lake just up the road in Coffee County. Last year adult & juvenile Bald Eagles, among other species, were spotted above the dam. If interested in the casual atmosphere at the Turrentine home, or in joining the group for the birding at Bedford Lake and elsewhere, please contact Melissa or Roy for details. — romejo1990@gmail.com
